GAO Zhihong, a Professor and Doctoral Supervisor of Nanjing Agricultural University, was graduated from China Agricultural University in 2003 with obtaining a degree of Doctor. She has studied as a visiting scholar in Australia and Japan, and in addttion, she has visited many countries in Europe and America for exchange or attended academic conferences, participated in Science and Technology Assistance Projects in Africa and maintained closing cooperation relationship with many foreign universities. At present, she is the person in charge of the National Germplasm Resources Nursery of Bayberry, the post scientist of the industrial system of Jiangsu Province, the Deputy Secretary General of Plumcot Branch of Chinese Horticultural Society, and the President of Nanjing Bayberry Association. Main research direction: Collection, preservation and evaluation of germplasm resources of fruit trees, and molecular biology of drupe fruit trees; Key research direction: Dormancy mechanism and pistil development mechanism. She has presided over 3 projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China, 2 special projects for public welfare industry of ministry of Agriculture, 2 projects of seed conservation projects of Ministry of Agriculture and resource sub-platform projects of Ministry of Science and Technology, 2 projects of Natural Science Foundation of Jiangsu Province, and more than 10 independent innovation projects of Jiangsu Province. She has published nearly 100 papers as the first author or corresponding author, including 39 SCI papers, 3 textbooks and monographs as chief editor or deputy chief editor. She obtained 4 national invention patents as the first participant, cultivated 10 new plum varieties, wherein 4 new grapes, apples, loquats and other new varieties was participated in the examination and approval. She won 1 second prize of Science and Technology Promotion of Jiangsu Province in 2017; 1 Second prize of Suzhou Scientific and Technological Progress; and 1 third prize of Science and Technology Promotion of Jiangsu Province. She won the title of outstanding Science and Technology Commissioner of Jiangsu Province in 2013, and was selected as the outstanding academic Leader of Jiangsu Qinglan Project and the top six talents of Jiangsu Province; she has cultivated more than 30 graduate students and two excellent master thesis of Jiangsu Province. In 2017, she won the Excellent Teaching Quality Award of Nanjing Agricultural University.
