In China, there are many famous plum-admiring scenic spots, such as Meihua Mountain in Nanjing, Wuxi Plum Garden, Shanghai Dianshanhu Plum Garden, Xi’an Xingqinggong Plum Garden, Qingdao Plum Garden, Zhengzhou Yueling Plum Valley, etc. In Nanjing area, the famous plum-admiring scenic spots are Nanjing Meihua Mountain and Fujiabian Meihua Mountain. The two mountains have their own characteristics. As we all know, plum blossom is the city flower of Nanjing. When plum blossom is in full bloom, people in Nanjing like to admire and taste plum blossom. In the near future, plum blossom will probably become the national flower of our country, which will be the pride of Nanjing people. The plum garden in front of us is our main scenic area - Fujiabian Meihua Mountain. Mountains are connected in Fujiabian with picturesque scenery. Plums are planted on the continuous mountains. When spring comes, the mountains and fields are filled with flowers, forming the unique ten-mile plum ridge and ten-thousand-mu plum sea. On both sides of the road where tourists come to admire the plum blossom, plum trees are mainly planted, forming a ten-mile plum blossom avenue in Fujiabin, welcoming guests from afar. This plum garden is the representative of Fujiabian’s ten-thousand-mu plum sea. Please follow me to enjoy it! This plum garden was built in 1984, covering an area of 320 mu. Professor CHU Mengyuan of Nanjing Agricultural University first introduced some varieties of fruit plum, such as Xiyeqing, Fenghou and Yingxu. In the later stage, we cooperated with Nanjing Agricultural University, Jiangsu Academy of Agricultural Sciences and other scientific research institutes, and jointly introduced hundreds of excellent and ornamental varieties of fruit plum from home and abroad. There are 110 varieties of fruit plum and 58 varieties of flower plum in the park now.

It is known to all that there is a Meihua Mountain in Nanjing. Is there any difference between the Meihua Mountain in Nanjing and that in Fujiabian? The first difference is that the varieties planted on the mountain are not the same. Nanjing Meihua Mountain is mainly planted with ornamental plum blossom. Once the spring is over, the flowers wither and the fragrance is gone. While Fujiabian Meihua Mountain is mainly planted with edible fruit plum, supplemented by ornamental plum. In the early spring, the plum blossom in the mountain blooms in succession, and the mountain is full of flowers with the fragrance spreading several mails away. Hundreds of ornamental varieties such as Gongfen, Lyu’e, Meirenmei, Red Plum and Chuizhimei are planted on both sides of the road and in the plum garden for tourists to admire. After spring, the beautiful flowers turn into lovely fruits. The “plum” in the allusions “boiling green plum and talking about heroes’ and “quench the thirst by thinking of plums” refers to the fruit of this kind of plum tree. Do not look down upon these fruits. The cuimei, qingrenmei, preserved plum and dried plum are processed from this fruit. Thus, we can see that the fruit plum we plant can bring economic benefits and drive farmers to become rich. The second difference is the scale of Meihua Mountain. There are ten thousand plum trees in Nanjing Meihua Mountain and a ten-thousand-mu plum sea in Fujiabian Mountain. Every year, hundreds of thousands of tourists at home and abroad having an out and admiring plum are intoxicated with this sea of fragrance! If you want to admire the plum blossoms at Fujiabian, you shall come tomorrow, the day after tomorrow and three days from now!
