Grape

Grape (scientific name: Vitis vinifera L.) is a kind of woody liana of genus Vitis in family Vitaceae, with cylindrical branchlets, longitudinal textures, no or sparse pubescence, oval leaves, dense or scattered panicles, well-developed basal branches and spherical or elliptic fruits. Its flowering season is from April to May, and the fruit season is from August to September.

Grape is one of the oldest fruit trees in the world. The fossil of grape was found in the tertiary stratum, which shows that it was all over Europe, Asia and Greenland at that time. Grape is originated in Western Asia and cultivated all over the world. About 95% of the grapes in the world are concentrated in the northern hemisphere.

Grape is a well-known fruit, which can be eaten directly, processed to raisins and wine. Tartaric acid can be extracted from lees, and the root and vine of grape can be used to vomiting and prevent miscarriage.
